High Tea at Waterton Lakes National Parks

I apologize that this post is several days late. My intention was to have Mom wrote a post on her take of our afternoon at Waterton..it just hasn't happened yet..and we still may get a post from her..  but don't want to miss out on documenting about this afternoon we had.

So this was 5 days ago..on Thursday July 10. All the boys took a hike up to a lake in the mountain and Mom and I spent the afternoon at the Prince of Wales Hotel where they offered afternoon High Tea..
I put on my finest clothes (that I had with me anyways)..and even put on make up for the first time since I left Willoughby..

We were seated at a table for two overlooking the lake and the mountains..a view that is only seen in the travel magazines..and envied by many.
We were given a choice of 6 different teas..green..black..herbal..both caffeinated and decaffeinated..triangular tea bags with a leaf on top instead of a string with stapled on paper tab..
They were served in fancy tea cups (so the leaf would stick out the top)..and petite cream and sugar bowls..fresh lemon slices amd honey..
There was a three tiered serving platter with tiny sandwiches, scones, cream puffs, and pastries ..two of each..
We relaxed and sipped on tea..and nibbled on the outrageous baked goods for THREE HOURS! !
We talked and laughed and talked some more while the harpist played soothing music all afternoon..I can't remember the last time I was that relaxed..

My own mom has been gone for many years now..and there are many moments and holidays that my sister's and I have been robbed of because she died as young as she did..but I am so blessed that I have been given a second mom..(Christian's mom) who has always treated me as if I was one of her own..
This was an afternoon I will always remember...thank you mom..I love you..xoxo
Linda
